is ATM? Why does EBN use ATM?
ATM is a high
speed protocol capable of supporting multimedia applications and
data transmission simultaneously. The QoS (Quality of Service) feature
of ATM provides quality multimedia transmission. By utilising ATM
technology, customers can easily migrate from a conventional data
network into a multimedia-oriented network.
Why
does EBN also use Frame Relay?
Frame Relay is
a widely used protocol for many wide area connections. The characteristic
of Frame Relay enables data frames to be transmitted at much faster
speed than the conventional protocols such as X.25 or SDLC. It has
the capabilities to optimise bandwidth utilisation by means of reserving
(CIR) and sharing (burst).
