Cordoda Plans to sign 300 SMEs on SMiLE Pac

CORDODA Corp Sdn Bhd expects to sign on some 300 local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) for its comprehensive solutions package SMiLE Pac, which will be implemented next January, said its chief operating officer Shane Hodge.
He told reporters at a media luncheon held in Petaling Jaya yesterday that the suite of solutions would provide a combination of hardware software and business consulting services, priced from RM3,000 (for the standard package) to RM10,000 a year. To help SMEs get online, the package would include desktop or notebook personal computers, Internet servers, printers and scanners, and a host of electronic commerce (e-commerce) software, services and facilities as well as training.
The package would also feature the development of an e-commerce enabled website for the SME customer, the setting up of an information communications infrastructure including Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) and the registration of information about the company in trade and e-commerce exchanges and hubs, such as the Malaysian External Trade Development Corp (Matrade) and the Small to Medium Industries Development Corp.
Hodge said by setting the price of the package from the onset, SMEs would easily be able to make allocations for their annual expenditure on e-commerce.
The launch of SMiLE had entailed several months of preparatory work where a market research survey was conducted to address the specific needs and concerns of SMEs with regard to their adoption of e-commerce technologies, he said.
“What is fundamentally required is education and a guide to help SMEs chart a technology path for themselves, based on their business needs,” Hodge said.
He added that the SMiLE Pac programme would provide SME customers with training, consulting and competitive financing schemes.
Cordoda’s SMI solutions unit head Yeoh Tze Pin said local SMEs had a lot of “catching up to do.” Quoting a survey by Smidec, only 16% of SMEs had adopted an e-commerce strategy, while Internet order taking and order payment stood at a low 7% and 2%, respectively.
