Cordoda launches broadband services

Cordoda Corp Sdn Bhd was awarded the MSC status by the Multimedia Development Corp (MDC) during the launch of its newest customised e-business solutions called Enterprise Broadband Network (EBN).

Multimedia Development Corp (MDC), senior vice president Dr Arif Nun presented the MSC certificate to Cordoda's co-executive chairman, Lee Tak Suan.
EBN is a combination of data network services and customised e-business solutions based on broadband communication technologies. Essentially Cordoda's EBN allows companies to leave the outsourcing of network management in Cordoda's capable hands.
Energy Communication and Multimedia Minister Datuk Amar Leo Moggie who launched the service said Cordoda's range of services that includes among others, multi-service connectivity, managed network service and e-business networking applications, will fulfill the need to provide end to end e-business solutions for today's competitive business.
Cordoda's EBN comprise three essential properties - Multi-Service Networking Access, Networking and Managed Service and e-Business Networking application. It provides businesses with the necessary bandwidth and the applications for them to implement their e-business strategy, in addition to the expertise to manage the network.
Through EBN, customers are able to access a managed service, and have diverse options of connectivity, multi-telco service, data hosting and security management.
Shane J. Hodge, chief operating officer of Cordoda, said that the benefits to customers using this outsourcing facility will be reduced expenditure as well as allowing companies to focus on core business areas. "If companies were to build their own similar network, this could easily cost them two and a half times more compared to if they decided to outsource it," he said.
He targets the banking and insurance companies as Cordoda's main target market.
To market Cordoda's services, they plan to approach a list of targeted companies individually. Todate, they have around 30 clients from stockbroking, insurance and manufacturing firms.
Hodge said that Cordoda's strength lies in its RM45 million national network and infrastructure.
They buy bandwidth from telcos such as Telekom, Maxis and TimeNet, while Internet access is from Jaring and TMNet.
"We hope to achieve 50 million in revenues by the end of the year," said Hodge. He declined to reveal the costs of implementing the EBN as it varies, depending on the type of solution required.
Cordoda has partners that takes care of developing the applications for it. Among the applications developed are Wireless Application Protocol and Short Messaging Service and a Human Resource application.
