It is about time that solution providers and vendors pay more attention to small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
They have long been ignored and seemingly forgotten that the technology divide between these enterprises and large enterprises has grown significantly wider with technological advancement. Fortunately, more and more vendors and technology providers have realised the potential of SMEs.
Addressing this issue, Cordoda recently launched the SMiLE Pac targeted at SMEs. According to Yeoh Tze Pin head of SMI Solutions Unit for Cordoda, the pack addresses the needs of SMEs and also the concerns of investment into technology. Cordoda estimates that the package will enable SMEs to transact using the Internet 30 days.
Incidentally, the new Small and Medium Industry Solutions Unit undertook a survey targeting some 60 SMIs based in the West & East Malaysia to understand and map the SMI landscape better. And SMiLE is one of the results of the survey. The unit spent around RM250, 000 on the research and development (R&D) of SMiLE.
The initial R&D for SMiLE started in August and has just recently been completed,’ reveals Yeoh.
The benefits, Yeoh says, include increase in productivity as Web-based e-mail accounts allow accessibility anywhere in the world while speeding up communications and correspondence. In addition, electronic brochure is easily duplicated and distributed in CD-ROMs.
With the pack, SMEs can better garner business partners and customers worldwide as corporate identity is enhanced with the domain name and profile.
“Electronic brochures will trim down print cost, and on the whole cuts down the developing of new markets and promotions,” says Yeoh.
In the mean time, Cordoda will go on a joint roadshow with Small and Medium Industries Association of Malaysia, to promote utilisation of technology, simultaneously introduce SMiLE to the SMEs. At the roadshow, SMEs can register with Cordoda for the SMiLE Pac. The roadshow will start on Dec 8, 2001right through to January 2002 on alternate weekends.
The first roadshow will be held at Hyatt Saujana Regency Hotel from 9am to 1pm.The series of roadshows will be conducted in English and Mandarin.
The product’s price range will be from RM3, 000 to RM10, 000 depending on the hardware and other additional peripherals requirement.
